Pipeline. Human Trafficking in Italy

Last week zeit.de published a photo series I’d like to share. The series deals with a particularly sad aspect of migration to Italy.

Photographer Elena Perlino took pictures of nigerian women working at the street-walkers‘ patch in Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples, Palermo and Genua. Most women are from Nigeria and crossed the Mediterranean Sea at the mercy of human trafficker. In the course of time Perlino build up strong relationships with female sex workers and had the opportunity to portray them at home, with their children in every-day moments.
