Dead Anthropologists play Golf in Heaven: Anthropological Theory

Lastely in the – online presence of a liberal Austrian newspaper – published a comment by Krista Federspiel. The comment criticized single aspects regarding dissertations at the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology in Vienna, but subsequently led to a discussion on anthropology itself. The need for variety in anthropology, the works of anthropology and the impact of today’s anthropology have been questioned within hundreds of replies from readers.

I had the intention that there is a need for a broader communication on what anthropology does on both: a theoretical and practical basis.

At a game of gulf some dead anthropologists discuss different theoretical positions and its applications in a calm way. Margeret Mead, Victor Turner, Clifford Geertz and many other argue on the relations between single issues and the human being. In mid-air of the short movie by Dianna M.Georgina, the anthropologist A.R. Radcliffe-Brown mentions the synchrony of Anthropology and the society. It’s an interesting aspect, which is likely to be forgotten within hot-blooded tempered debates.
